New, updated prices on Don’t Drive Like This paperback
After the ADTSEA conference in Montana last week, we adjusted (lowered!) prices. You can see the updated price list here, including a coupon for $5 off an evaluation copy.
We are working on posters now, and discussing and finalizing plans for other kinds of deliveries later in the year.
Things that we heard and what we learned about values aligned with what we heard from you in Montana
Key educational value alignment
- The most consistent themes I heard at the conference—teachers building strong student relationships, capturing attention, and improving student retention—are all foundational to DDLT’s design.
- The approach is about fostering parent-student conversations, student peer discussions, and project-based learning. Students who prefer not to speak can use prompts for writing. Small group work and “report outs” can be supported. And student leaders can even jump in and lead a discussion.
- The materials support not only new drivers but also adults in remediation courses, adding humor and fresh engagement to traditional training.

What the project is and what it isn’t
- DDLT isn’t just a book: It’s the start of a content program, with the paperback as the first release and more resources on the way.
- DDLT is not a curriculum: It’s designed as a supplement to your existing direct instruction materials, helping you deepen and enliven classroom engagement.
Out content approach
The resource is intended to let instructors “show, not tell”—using humor, hundreds of conversation/writing prompts, and dynamic activities to make classes more exciting and interactive.

Options to purchase the paperback
Several options exist for purchase, adaptable based on your public school or private driving school’s needs and population.
- Students getting books their own to keep. You buy and give to student or buy and resell to student or parent at a small profit.
- School-supplied copy by buying a classroom set which remains in classroom
- Providing coupons for parents to purchase and require (or suggest) for class
- If you are (or report up to) a statewide organization, we can license print-ready files for that organization to print and distribute – or print for them.
Definitely doing posters
Due to popular demand, we’re actively developing posters that can be used for in-class discussions. Keep an eye out for them.
We have to balance demand to do digital / online stuff with intellectual property concerns
- If more interest and support emerge, we’re open to creating asynchronous learning options (such as SCORM modules or other online delivery) with secure instructor/student logins, though this will require additional development.
- For paperback pricing, organizations reaching 120+ copies can get pricing below $11/copy; even better rates are available for higher commitments. Shipping is included! Please contact me for exact quotes based on your situation.
